Leonie has 10 years recruitment experience of which seven years has been specialising in legal/compliance placements and three years focused on specialist banking, finance and accounting roles.
She started her career as a commercial property broker- negotiating sales and letting for corporate clients. During this time, she developed a passion for matching people with properties and honed her negotiation skills.
Leonie spent two years in London learning the art of negotiation with two leading global property players. On her return to South Africa, she sought out a new challenge which appeared in the form of recruitment for one of the leading banking recruitment specialists. The highlight was founding the legal desk at the firm branching into compliance and company secretarial placements.
Here she specialised in matching people with careers and cultures of banking giants, corporate boutiques and law practices. After six years and half years of nudging candidates to “go out there and scare themselves with something new” she took the plunge and launched The Global skills Exchange (TGSE) in mid 2007, which she later enhanced to become Leonie Ellis Legal & Compliance Careers in 2012.
During her career she has gained valuable insights on how to identify talent for line managers and assisting candidates in finding a position that will compliment their career path. Her honed selection, negotiation and matching skills has enabled Leonie to make her mark as a leading specialist recruiter; with an array of reputable clientele and a database of remarkable “best in class” talent.
